# Introduction

> What Paywit is and how a payment works.

Paywit is a stablecoin checkout. Your customer pays in USDC from their own wallet to your wallet, and a signed webhook tells your backend when it is paid. Paywit does not hold the funds.

## How a payment works

**1. Your server creates a payment**

One call to the API with the amount and your order id. You get back a hosted checkout URL.

**2. The customer pays from their wallet**

You send them to the checkout. They pick a wallet, approve the payment, and the USDC moves from their wallet to your settlement wallet.

**3. Paywit confirms it on-chain**

Paywit marks the payment paid when the funds arrive in your wallet.

**4. Your server gets a webhook**

A signed `payment.paid` event with your order id. You fulfil the order.

The integration is one call out and one webhook in. SDKs are available for [JavaScript](https://docs.paywit.xyz/sdks/javascript.md) and [Flutter](https://docs.paywit.xyz/sdks/flutter.md).
